Why I Made This

I have this habit of making dragons when bad things are happening in life – they give me something to hyper focus on to avoid thinking about what’s actually going on. But this time the hard thing in life isn’t happening to me, but to a friend. (Find the dragon pattern here)

And it needs to get sent out as quickly as possible, which the dragons usually take at least a few days.

crochet heart and dragon

So I decided to make this squeezable heart. It’s a quick project to do when you don’t have a lot of time to make a bunch of pieces to sew together!

Tip: Make sure to use extra soft yarn (like merino or even scraps of cashmerino) to make this even better for cuddling.

Saying all of that, this also makes a great gift for anyone, to show them that you care about them any time of the year!

What You’ll Need:

pink and red crochet heart

3 colors of yarn, in the same weight – in the images, pink heart is 10ply (aran) blue heart is 8ply
Amount (weight and length) I used
Hot pink (color A): 14g (30m)
Red (color B): 4g (9m)
Light Pink (color C): 1g (3m)

2.75mm hook (or a hook that’s smaller than the suggested one for the yarn you’re choosing) – I wanted this really tight, you could use a 3mm hook or 3.5mm hook for 10ply too
Darning needle
Stitch marker – read why stitch markers are helpful!
Scissors
Stuffing

Gauge does not matter!

Size of the pink: 5.5in (14cm) tall, 5in(12cm) wide
